Food in the Dorm

These photos were taken over this weekend on the food that people enjoy to eat in my dorm. As you can tell it may not be the healthiest food, but the food ranging from delicious popcorn to apples being juggled. People in the dorms love to eat, and there is nothing better then chilling with your friends and eating. Eating brings people from all cultures together. It is one object that all human kind can relate too because we all need to eat in order to survive. However, as you can see there are plenty of ways in eating food juggling it, watching a movie, just chilling with friends etc. For the year, this is how I have been enjoying food!

Feels Like Home

In order to know the meaning of my foods/foodways, I feel one should each others culture first. Both my grandparents were born and raised in Slovenia, (a European country in between Croatia and Austria), and came to America. Throughout my life being Slovenian has/ is important to my family. Along with every culture is their types of food and foodways. There are many delicious foods within the Slovenian culture however there are two important foods that come to mention are Krofe and Klobasa. Krofe is shown above, but it also is known in America as a "slovenian donut", although to me it does not taste like a donut. However, there different ways of making them. For example they can be plan or they can have different types of stuffing inside such as: apples and cherries. It is a main food product during the events of Mardi Gras. In addition to Krofe, I love Klobasa. Klobasa is a Slovenian sausage that can be eaten at any and every occasion. However, a lot of Slovenians I know of try to make their own Klobasa and it becomes of competition on who can make the best sausage. It can be eaten on a bun or sometimes sauerkraut. Either way it is VERY DELICIOUS.
